Karen Smith

Karen was inspired to become a nurse while working with her grandmother who was a charge nurse of a nursing home. She obtained a Bachelor of Science and then Master of Science Degree from the University of Oklahoma. After 27 years as a nurse and college professor, she became a nurse practitioner and completed a post master's Family Nurse practitioner program at Maryville University. She has extensive experience providing exceptional care in women's health and obstetrics, neurosurgery, as well as urgent care, ensuring patients receive timely and effective treatment.

Karen is committed to transparent communication and actively involves patients in the decision-making process, fostering a collaborative and trusting healthcare environment. Her compassionate approach, clinical acumen, and dedication to improving patient outcomes make her a valuable asset to the Remedy Health team. She is excited to join the Remedy Health team and finally have the time and opportunity to get to know each of her patients.

Karen is a member of several professional organizations, including the National League for Nurse Practitioners, and the Oklahoma Association of Nurse Practitioners. She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and has served with OEA/NEA/ACTE, and as an AWHONN National Instructor during her career.

Karen has two sons and one "amazing" grandson. She enjoys her two black Labrador Retrievers, Mabel and Lola. She loves to travel. Italy and Greece are her favorite to date, but she is looking forward to seeing Scotland and Ireland!
